About Otogenix
Hearing and balance disorders are difficult to diagnose and treat. While conditions like otosclerosis, recurrent labyrinthitis and trauma present clear initial symptoms, many disorders, such as Meniere’s, migraine, autoimmune inner ear disease, and environmental-induced inner ear disorders, have overlapping symptoms that are a diagnostic challenge.
Modern medical practitioners often gravitate towards symptom management, relying heavily on surgical interventions and technological aids as their primary treatment modalities. Yet, the ever-growing influx of peer-reviewed publications each year makes it increasingly challenging for doctors to stay abreast of the latest research without compromising patient interactions. This dynamic often results in missed opportunities to identify and address the root causes of many hearing and balance conditions.
Our commitment is to ensure that both you and your medical practitioner continually enhance your health and well-being. We achieve this by meticulously sifting through the latest research, drawing meaningful correlations to tailor treatments to individual needs. The human body, including the inner ear, possesses an innate capacity for healing. Our driving passion lies in prevention. By empowering individuals with the knowledge to cultivate and sustain robust hearing and balance health, we believe we’re fulfilling our mission.
Whole Genome Sequencing
We are not a direct consumer service. Our genomic tests and reports are exclusively prescribed by physicians. We proudly offer the only all-encompassing otolaryngological genetic test report, achieved by sequencing the entirety of your genome, decoding your DNA repeatedly. Our Whole Genome Sequencing (WGS) boasts a 30x coverage, signifying that each DNA letter is read an average of 30 times. This ensures exceptional accuracy in our analyses, granting invaluable insights to your healthcare practitioner.
Unlike single-gene sequencing, WGS detects all genetic variations in the genome, including single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs), indels, and copy number variations. This positions it as the premier DNA test for uncovering genetic health risks and diagnosing genetic conditions that might impact the hearing and balance organs at the cellular and molecular level. For instance, our WGS DNA Sequencing can ascertain increased risks of hearing loss in high-risk occupational settings, or genetic vulnerabilities to health conditions, such as ototoxic drug reactions. It can also determine carrier statuses for rare familial diseases.
By opting for our WGS, patients can benefit from extensive genetic counselling and superior medical care tailored to their genetic makeup. Additionally, a distinctive advantage of our WGS is its effectiveness across all ethnicities, be it African, Asian, Caucasian, Ashkenazi Jewish, or indigenous Australians and Americans.
